Route Highlights: Step by Step
From Foce Fishing Station to the Boscoforte Peninsula
The journey begins after crossing Ponte San Pietro, where a quiet embankment road runs alongside the Foce Fishing Station, the scenic Casone Donnabona, and the Zavelea Valley Oasis—natural gems where flora and fauna coexist in perfect harmony. This area is ideal for spotting numerous water bird species and enjoying the peaceful lagoon.
Continuing along the Agosta Embankment, you’ll reach the Boscoforte Peninsula, home to the famous Delta-Camargue white horses, a semi-wild breed that roams freely in this protected area.
Walking on Water: The Argine degli Angeli
Next comes the Argine degli Angeli, a breathtaking cycling and pedestrian boardwalk stretching 5.4 km over the water. This scenic highlight of the route leads to the Bellocchio Fishing Station, offering unforgettable views and photo opportunities.
Toward the Sea and Back to Comacchio
After passing under the Romea Highway via an underpass, you’ll reach Lido di Spina. From here, you can follow the seafront promenade to Lido degli Estensi, where a ferry takes you across to Porto Garibaldi.
At this point, the Comacchio Valleys Ring offers two alternatives to complete the route:
- To the Salt Pans and Comacchio: from Lido degli Estensi, follow the embankment along the Comacchio Salt Pans, home to the iconic pink flamingos, and continue to the historic center of Comacchio.
- Via Porto Garibaldi Cycle Path: alternatively, begin at the Porto Garibaldi canal port and follow the cycle path along Via Marina, leading directly into the heart of the “Little Venice.”
