There are places that seem straight out of a storybook, nestled in a charming setting sculpted by clear streams, dense green woods, towering solitary peaks, and roaring waterfalls. Such is the case with the sunny Ahrntal Valley and its delightful village of Selva dei Molini in South Tyrol.
This idyllic destination, watched over by the imposing Zillertal Alps, knows how to thrill hikers, trekkers, and nature lovers, leading them into a true daydream.

It’s a paradise for mountaineers, for those who wish to fully experience the mountains, savor its scents and beauty, hike its trails, and let their gaze wander in awe among the snowy peaks and the rushing streams.
Water is indeed the absolute protagonist of the magnificent territory of Selva dei Molini, the so-called “Valley of Water” (Valle dell’Acqua), where various mills, lakes, and streams stand out.
The thematic trail “Power of Water” (Forza dell’Acqua) is absolutely unmissable for harmony of body and spirit.
During the summer, this cozy and evocative holiday spot attracts hikers of all ages, while in winter the ski areas are a skier’s delight.

What to Do in the Splendid Setting of the Fairy-tale Village
Peace, relaxation, and outdoor activities: this is the unbeatable offer of Selva dei Molini and the spectacular valley in which it is situated.
The jewel in the crown is undoubtedly the “Power of Water” trail, a series of themed routes that start from the artificial lake of Selva, reach Selva di Dentro with the “Water and Wheel” itinerary exploring the fascinating world of mills, pass through the Lappago Gorge, and conclude at the (Magia dell’Acqua) “Magic of Water” Museum, established in 2010 in the Canonica of Lappago, to learn about the most precious resource in all its aspects, including artistic.
Equally unmissable is the Neves Alpine Reservoir, set in an untouched panorama, reachable by an easy one-hour walk starting from Lappago at 1430 meters along a five-kilometer trail that can also be driven.
From here, more experienced hikers can continue to the Ponte di Ghiaccio Pass and the Gran Pilastro Refuge, and then venture to the peak of Gran Pilastro at 3510 meters.
But that’s not all!
Another pleasant hike is the “Selva dei Molini Alpine Pastures Trail“, where, at 2000 meters altitude, it’s hard to believe one’s luck in witnessing such a spectacle amidst lush meadows, mountain landscapes, and vast horizons.
Furthermore, for an afternoon of pure snow fun, the Tamarix Snow&Fun Family Park at 1140 meters near the Meggima Lake is the ideal playground for the whole family: slides, rubber tubes, toboggans, monoski, snowboarding, there’s an endless array of choices for non-stop enjoyment.
