Lumina Milia, the magical forest to explore at night
Imagine living an experience you have never had before, in a forest at night, discovering the magical world hidden in the darkness of the night.
In Italy there is this incredible place, an itinerary to be traveled only in the dark that allows those who travel it to observe the forest at night.
We are talking about the Experiential Botanical Garden “Lumina Milia” located in Ampezzo, in the province of Udine, in the Carnic Alps, which is the first night-time nature trail in Italy.
The trail is made safe to be visited by anyone thanks to the presence of 15 thousand mini-LEDs and 180 headlights of different colors, which make the atmosphere even more magical.
As soon as the daylight disappears, the forest changes its appearance and the darkness makes our sight less important, amplifying all the other senses, stimulating an incredible cognitive, emotional and sensorial experience.
The colors, sounds and scents of the surrounding environment change and the little remaining light gives space to the imagination: the branches of the trees seem strange and mysterious figures, the wind seems to be a physical presence that speaks to us and whispers.
The experience in the forest lasts just over an hour and takes place by walking on a circular path of a kilometer and a half divided into seven sections that are illuminated in time so as to turn off and give the visitor the experience of complete immersion in the night:
1. The village of Sbilfs, who are the elves of the forest
2. The ramp of rocks where you can see the bats
3. The descent of the fox immersed in the heart of the forest
4. The frogs and toads of the Teria stream
5. The pit of the Aganis, the nymphs of the waters
6. The labyrinth of light, with flowers and spontaneous herbs
7. The effort of the Ascent of the Ogre
This magnificent nature excursion, embellished with lights and colors that remain trapped by branches and leaves producing surreal reverberations, in addition to being a unique thing to experience with your friends and family, represents a panacea for your health because the healing power that Nature has on our body is now recognized.
A simple walk in the woods can lead to a lowering of cortisol levels, which is the stress hormone.
In Japan they call it Shinrin-yoku, which means “benefiting from the atmosphere of the forest” or “forest bathing”.
They discovered that these improvements are due to phytoncides, which are essential oils present in the trunk of plants, which are released into the air to defend themselves from the attack of parasites and insects, which are also helpful for people by strengthening the immune system, increasing energy and mitigating depression, anxiety and stress, and increasing sleep rhythms.
In short, a different way of experiencing nature, with something extraordinary and beneficial to share with the people we love and with whom we want to spend happy moments.
